One and a Half Inside Parry vs. Straight Punches + Counterattack —
Step 1 — Stance Stand in a balanced fighting stance with hands up and chin tucked. Stay light on your feet and ready to move.
Step 2 — First Inside Parry As the straight punch comes toward your centreline, use your lead hand to guide the punch slightly across your body. Keep the movement small, sharp, and efficient.
Step 3 — Half Parry (Follow‑Through) Continue the motion with a second, shorter parry using the same hand. This “half” parry clears any lingering threat and keeps the line open. Your other hand stays high to protect your face.
Step 4 — Step In or Angle Off Move your feet as you parry:
-
Step slightly forward to close distance, or
-
Step slightly off‑line to create a safer angle. Keep your balance and stay centred.
Step 5 — Counterattack Immediately follow with a fast, direct counter such as:
-
Straight punch
- Knee strike
Step 6 — Reset Return to your stance with hands up. Be ready for the next attack or follow‑up movement.
