Knife Defence —
(Against downward, upward & circular knife attacks)
Step 1 — Stance Stand in a balanced fighting stance with hands up and eyes forward. Keep your weight centred and stay mobile.
Step 2 — Hands Up, Palms Out Raise your hands in a natural “fence” position. Elbows slightly bent, palms facing outward to react quickly.
Step 3 — Intercept the Attack Use the closest forearm to defend. Meet the attack at the wrist or forearm, not the blade.
-
Downward attack: Lift your forearm up diagonally to intercept.
-
Upward attack: Drop your forearm down diagonally to catch the rising motion.
-
Circular attack: Rotate your forearm outward or inward to meet the arc.
Step 4 — Deflect, Don’t Block Use a sharp, strong forearm motion to redirect the attack. Let the strike slide off your arm while you move your head off the line.
Step 5 — Move & Control Step to the side or forward to break the attacker’s line. Keep your other hand ready to protect, control, or follow up safely.
