Release From Side Headlock —

(Stabilise → Face Control → Groin Palm → Nose Strike → Push/Exit → Scan)

Step 1 — Stabilise Your Base Step one leg forward to stop yourself being pulled or thrown. Keep your knees bent and your weight low for balance.

Step 2 — Reach Up to the Attacker’s Face Bring the hand closest to the attacker up and behind their head. Slide your hand to the rear of their face (jawline/cheek area in training). This reduces their ability to tighten the headlock.

Step 3 — Palm Strike to the Groin (Training‑Safe Targeting) With your free hand, deliver a strong palm strike toward the attacker’s inner thigh or lower abdomen in training. This simulates the real‑world groin strike safely and forces them to loosen the hold.

Step 4 — Stand Tall to Break the Pressure Straighten your legs and lift your body upward. This creates space around your neck and weakens the headlock.

Step 5 — Nose Strike (Training‑Safe Contact) The same hand that struck the groin now comes upward to deliver a palm strike to the attacker’s nose/face area (forehead in training). This disrupts their balance and posture.

Step 6 — Push the Attacker Down OR Step Out to Exit

  • If the attacker is off‑balance: Use your hand on their face to push them down and away.

  • Or step your body out and around to free your head and disengage.

Choose the option appropriate to training level and safety.

Step 7 — Turn to Face the Attacker Create space, turn your body, and face them with hands up.

Step 8 — Scan Look around your environment for safety, exits, or additional threats. Stay balanced and aware.
